Below is the process for getting a real estate license in Oklahoma. All new candidates must first receive a Provisional Sales Associate license for their first year.
Steps to Get An Oklahoma Real Estate License (Details & Links below)
Get enrolled in the necessary real estate school.
Complete Your background check thru IdentoGO.
Complete the Provisional Sales Associate license application with the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission (OREC).
Pass the state issued Oklahoma Salesperson Exam.
Pay the required licensing fees to OREC and activate your license.
- Kevo University offers the required 90 hour pre-license salesperson course. The course is ONLY $29.99/mo. This is a subscription model that allows you to pay as you go. If you finish in under 30 days, it's only $29.99.
- If you can commit just 1 hour per day to your studies, you should be able to finish the course in under 30 days. Most people wait until the end of the day to start their studying. This is a huge mistake and will add weeks or months to your course. Will power is like a muscle; by the end of the day, it’s tired. If you want to do something challenging, you’re best to knock it out in the morningThe best thing to do is to set your alarm an hour earlier than you normally wake up every day. Spend 1 hour every morning focusing on your real estate course. It's no fun to lose sleep, but you’ll knock the it out faster!
- You must complete school, pass the school final with an 80%, and receive your Certificate of Completion before going on to step 2. OREC will not accept your background check or application prior to course completion.
- Once you’ve received your Certificate of Completion from the real estate school, you can schedule your electronic fingerprints for your background check, and complete the rest of the OREC Application online.

directly to OREC )

Above are the technical steps that you must take to obtain your Oklahoma Real Estate License, but there are a few more steps before you're ready to actually help clients buy and sell real estate.
- Join a Realtor Association such as Oklahoma City Metro Association of Realtors (OKCMAR) or Greater Tulsa Association of Realtors (GTAR). This will give you access to the MLS and realtor lock boxes to show homes to clients.
- Join a real estate Brokerage. All provisional sales associates and sales associates must hang their real estate license with a brokerage. A brokerage will be responsible for your training and growth as a real estate agent. Not all brokerages are created equal. It's important to interview multiple brokerages and find the brokerage that is set up best for you and where you're at in your career.
- Find a mentor. When you're new in this industry, there are so many moving parts and so many opportunities to chase down. You really need a good mentor to make sure you stay focused on the right things and make sure they cut your learning curve in half.
- Find a sales system to follow. There are a million ways to skin a cat in this industry. There's an old adage that goes "the best system is the one your follow." You need to find someone who has accomplished what you want to accomplish and follow the same path they took.
